All the staff at cameronwebsterarchitects along with Natasha Marshall and Otago Developments met at The Printworks for a soup bread and cheese lunch to learn about OXFAM’s “GROW” project.
The small subsistence farmers in the Third World are the main hope for sustainable food production, yet our actions in the west are directly contributing to their demise, through Land Grabs, financial inflation:(directly caused by “Quantitative Easing” in the UK and Europe), unpredictable weather caused by climate change, and diminishing financial and political support from the West.
These issues are well understood by OXFAM, and their “GROW” project looks at the problems of the Third World through the lens of food.
We all decided that each of us would try to tell others and develop ways of raising funds: for example hopefully the “Velvet and Silk Cafe”
will hold their next meeting in our (still to be completed warehouse) at the end of Bothwell Lane, at which we will raise funds for “GROW”.
