Cove Park, Cove

Cameronwebster won a shortlisted competition to carry out a feasibility study for the future of the centre buildings at the artists’ charity and residences at Cove Park.

The existing building is an uninsulated prefabricated timber lodge, very cold in winter but with stunning views over Loch Long. The brief required more and better spaces for the resident artists to meet, and more facilities for offices, research and performances. It was also a requirement that the architecture should not be too flamboyant.

A phased development was proposed which took full advantage of the quality of views and the light, creating a series of special places within two simple linked buildings, and forming a landscaped courtyard as the point of arrival.

The feasibility study was enthusiastically accepted by the client, who are currently raising support and funds.

Client:Cove Park Ltd.
Location:Cove, Rosneath Peninsula
Cost:£3m (for implementation of the full study).
